Clinical studies shows that patients with Metabolic Syndrome / Syndrome X may have an Inositol (Myo- and D-Chiro-Inositol) deficiency. Patients (both males and females) may require at least 4 grams per day supplementation in the ration 40:1 (Myo-Inositol : D-Chiro Inositol) to rectify and maintain sufficient levels of Inositol.

Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol are essential components required in the process of glucose metabolism and storage of glycogen which is required for healthy insulin levels.

Each sachet conveniently contains:

The recommended minimum dose of 4g Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol in the physiological ratio (40:1)

Myo-Inositol is part of an essential secondary messenger system which ensures that the message given by insulin to each cell in your body is functioning normally. The message opens  the glucose ports to allow glucose to enter the cell and be used as energy. D-Chiro Inositol is responsible to store the extra glucose that entered the cell that was not used for energy as glycogen to ensure that your glucose blood levels will remain normal even between meals. Normal blood glucose levels will result in normal insulin levels.

Metabolic Syndrome /  Syndrome X is a group of risk factors that, when presenting together, may increase the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and even strokes.

The underlying risk factors may often include obesity and fat accumulation around the waist, increased blood pressure, insulin resistance, high triglyceride levels or abnormal cholesterol levels.

Having one of these does not mean that you have Metabolic Syndrome, but it may increase the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases. When a patient presents with three or more of these risk factors, the patient will be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.

At least three or more of these needs to be above the normal ranges in order to make a positive diagnosis:
•  waist circumference
•  fasting triglyceride levels
•  cholesterol levels
•  blood pressure
•  fasting glucose level

These levels can be tested by your physician.

The complications that may result from Metabolic Syndrome are frequently serious and longterm (chronic).

They may include:
• Atherosclerosis
• Diabetes
• Heart attack
• Kidney disease
• Stroke
• Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
• Peripheral artery disease
• Cardiovascular disease
• Female infertility: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
• Male infertility: Decreased sperm quality

Metabolic Syndrome is present in about 5% of people with a normal body weight, 22% of those who are overweight and 60% of those considered obese.

Approximately 20-30% of the population in international industrialized countries may have Metabolic Syndrome. This statistic may even be higher in the South African population.

In a healthy digestive system, the foods you eat are broken down into sugar (glucose). Insulin, a hormone made by your pancreas, along with sufficient amounts of Inositol (Myo-Inositol) may help sugar to enter your cells to be used as fuel. D-Chiro Inositol may assist your body to effectively store the excess fuel to carry you to your next meal.

If you suffer from insulin resistance or are Inositol deficient, cells may not respond normally to insulin and this results in glucose not being able to enter the cells as easily.

Daily supplementation of at least 4g Inositol (Myo- and D-Chiro Inositol) may rectify the possible Inositol deficiency which is required for normal glucose metabolism.

Central obesity refers to excess fat in the abdominal area. This is the part of the body between your chest and your pelvis. Those who are “apple-shaped” tend to store excess body fat around their stomach.

Central obesity is also known as belly fat, central adiposity, and intra-abdominal fat. Too much fat in your midsection may put you at higher risk for cardiovascular disease than excess fat in your thighs or buttocks.

Metsyn XTM contains Inositols which may have a positive effect on mediating of glucose metabolism which directly affects weight and thus obesity.

If your body has a Inositol deficiency, your glucose metabolism may be affected. This might result in you experiencing food cravings.

A food craving is an intense desire for food which may seem uncontrollable. People experience cravings differently. The craving may not be satisfied until they get that certain food they crave. Cravings are often for junk and processed foods high in sugar, salt, and fat.

Food cravings are a major problem for people trying to maintain a healthy diet.

Craving can be selective or non-selective. Selective cravings are specific eg. the person’s favourite chocolate or burger from a certain restaurant. Non-selective cravings is the desire to eat anything.

Metsyn XTM contains Inositols which may have a positive effect on the underlying conditions of Metabolic Syndrome, of which food craving is one.

Blood sugar, or glucose, is fuel for the body and is vital for the body to perform its functions.

Glucose in the blood is very precisely controlled to keep the body in balance. When glucose levels are outside the correct parameters, the patient can feel very sick. Too high and too low glucose levels are both very dangerous.

A person suffering from high blood sugar may:

  • You may suffer from headaches and other aches and pain.
  • You may drink lots of water and still be very thirsty.
  • You may feel very hungry despite eating enough.
  • You may experience dry mouth despite drinking enough water.
  • You may feel excessively drowsy or tired.
  • You may feel bloated.

It is always important to speak to your physician if you experience any changes in your day-to-day functioning.

One may think that having high glucose levels in the blood will provide an increase in energy. It’s often quite the opposite. If the glucose in the blood cannot leave the blood to enter the cells despite high insulin levels, the cells cannot utilize the glucose to produce energy.

As a result of the glucose not entering the cells, it may then stored as fat instead of being utilised to provide energy.

Metsyn XTM may normalise this process which may result in increased energy levels.
